Painfully slow when copying from LAN

Hi guys!
I'm running ES File Explorer 1.4.2.1 on my Acer Liquid (Eclair 2.1) and I have the following problem: copying files over LAN from my Windows 7 laptop is *extremely* slow, ie: it takes a full minute to transfer a 7mb file. I know that trasnfering via WiFi is slow, but not THAT slow! Any ideas why this is happening?
